Seven-Run Eighth Propels Stony Brook

Trailing 6-5 in the eighth inning, the Stony Brook Sea Wolves exploded for seven runs against Central Connecticut State and held on to win 12-6 for their 20th win of the season.


CCSU took an early 1-0 against Sea Wolves starter Nicholas DiEva. Stony Brook got even in the second on an RBI single by Jeremy Giles.

They took the lead in the third inning on an fielder’s choice and an error off the bat of Jack Parenty. 

Stony Brook added two in the fifth on an RBI single by Robert Chavarria and double by Malcolm Nachmanoff

In the bottom of the sixth, CCSU got even with a four-run inning off reliever Aaron Pinto, with the big blow coming on a two-run double off the bat of Nick Garland. 

In the eighth inning, the Sea Wolves batted around and scored seven runs to open up the game. The big hit was a bases-clearing double by Jeremy Giles to make the score 9-6. 

Stony Brook reliever Nick Brass threw the final two innings, allowing one ER to record his second win of the season. 

The offense compiled 12 hits–Giles had three hits and drove in four runs. Cole Peragine had two hits.

The Sea Wolves are now 20-12 on the season and 9-2 in the America East conference. They will travel to Albany for a crucial three-game series this weekend.
