Senior Night is supposed to be a nice, easy victory. Old Westbury‘s win Tuesday night over the City College of New York was anything but. It took 10 innings, and it included eight errors and 17 hits but the Panthers won 5-4 on an RBI single by the red-hot Tommy Zeigen.

Old Westbury starter Tyler Kapela was terrific–he allowed one ER in six innings, struck out three and walked one. He did not factor in the decision. Nick Dorcean came on in relief in the seventh and struck out six in four shutout innings. He allowed only one hit while walking two.

The offense compiled 10 hits–Nick Yip had three, Zeigen and Dean Sheridan both had two.

In the 10th inning, Yip led off with a double down the right field line. Christian Faust was intentionally walked, which allowed Jonathon Pagan to bunt them over. CCNY elected to load the bases by intentionally walking Dean Sheridan. That brought up Tommy Zeigen, who lined a single to left field to walk off a winner.

With the victory, the Panthers are now 18-8 and they appear primed for the playoffs.

They’ll travel to John Jay on Friday.
