In a battle between two terrific pitchers headed for Division-I baseball in the fall, it was Centereach‘s Greg Marino who came out on top. The 6’7″ right hander fired a complete game, striking out 12 while allowing six hits as the Cougars came out on top 6-3 against rival Newfield.
Marino will be heading to Stony Brook in the fall.
For the Cougars, Nick Kostulas went 3-for-4 with two runs and Austin Turner hit a three-run double. With the victory, the Cougars improve to 3-7 while the Wolverines drop to 5-3.
Brandon Alberto entered the game at 3-0. He will be pitching for NYIT next year.
