The Old Westbury Panthers swept two teams this weekend on their way to improving to 17-8 overall and 8-4 in the Skyline Conference.
On Friday, they swept Yeshiva University by a combined score of 33-6. While it is hardly an accomplishment to defeat them, it was what needed to be done. They benefited from 11 Macabees errors.
In Game 1, Justin Mize recorded the win. He threw five innings, allowing two ER.
Tommy Zeigen led the offense with three hits, three runs score and two RBI.
In Game 2, Nick Schoen set a career-high with 13 k’s in a complete game shutout. He walked two and allowed four hits.
Once again, Tommy Zeigen had three hits but he drove in four runs this time. Jake Schwartz had three hits and drove in three runs as well. Robinson Hernandez hit a home run.
On Sunday, they swept Mount St. Mary’s 5-0 and 7-0. In the first game, Caleb Olsen threw a complete game shutout.
The Panthers scored four runs in the fourth inning thanks to an RBI groundout and RBI singles by Joey Walsh, Jacob Coners and Nick Yip. That was all Olsen would need.
Zeigen had two more hits in this game.
