How Matt Harvey Inspired and Transformed a Long Island Pitcher

Modeling yourself after an All Star pitcher with Cy Young credentials isn’t a bad place to start as an amateur baseball player. Will it guarantee success? Well, maybe the answer is a little complicated…

Massapequa native, St. John the Baptist graduate and current Mount St. Vincent‘s pitcher Tyler Krolikowski is coming off the best start of his life. Last Saturday he threw a no-hitter with 14 strikeouts while issuing only one walk against Maritime in a Skyline Conference game.

The 6’0″ junior admitted it was the only no-hitter he’s ever thrown.

“Everything was working that day,” he said. “Mainly fastball and curveball,” he added.

It wasn’t always working that way. In fact, as recently as last season, Krolikowski wasn’t coming close to throwing no-hitters.

I have definitely improved from my first year in college in everything baseball. I was 0-7 with about an 8 era. I credit the coaching staff here at CMSV,” he added.

It was an 8.58 ERA to be exact.

This year it has been a different story though, for the Dolphin’s ace pitcher.

Through three starts, he has allowed only five ER while striking out 24 batters in 15.1 and yielding only nine hits.

That’s quite the transformation.

Does it happen overnight? Or maybe months of maturation? Or…maybe emulating a pitcher that virtually flirts with a no-hitter every outing.

I really look up to Matt Harvey as a pitcher because of the way he carries himself and competes on the mound,”he said.

Keep that in mind pitchers. If you would like to see improvements on the mound then watch tons of video of the pitchers that are the most successful.
