Hofstra Steam Rolls NYIT

The Hofstra Pride easily took care of their Division-I Nassau neighbors, NYIT, by the score of 13-1 to improve to 12-19. Wake Forest transfer Patrick Bryant (Center Moriches ’14) threw 6 shutout innings, allowing five hits, walked one while striking out two. He needed only 65 pitches.

The offense got it going early and often. David Leiderman smacked an RBI double in the first inning to score Matt Anunziata. In the second inning, Anunziata hit an RBI double to score Jake Fallon. He ended up advancing to third on an error and scoring on a wild pitch to make it 3-0.

In the next inning, Brett Johnson hit an RBI single to score Leiderman.

In the meantime, Bryant was mowing down the Bears hitters. Only Louis Mele and Robert Fiato compiled multi-hit games against the freshman.

The Pride broke it open in the fourth inning, when Anunziata once again hit an RBI single and came around to score on a wild pitch.

The Bears finally got on the board in the eighth inning on an RBI ground out by Anthony Caradonna.

The Bears fall to 7-14 on the season.

Hofstra will look to keep the offense rolling when they travel to Manhattan today to take on the struggling Jaspers.
