The power has suddenly gone out for the Hofstra offense. They were swept this weekend in South Carolina and have now lost four in a row.
They have scored five runs in their past four games. After getting shutout in consecutive games to Fairfield and College of Charleston, they were able to put up four runs today, but they couldn’t capitalize when they had runners in scoring position,
This was going to be a tough series regardless, playing on the road against a team that entered with a 18-7 record is a tall order, but not they have fallen to 9-16 and their season is at a crossroads.
Today Chris Weiss was the lone member of the Pride to collect two hits. Yesterday, Brett Johnson was the only player. On Friday, it was Steven Foster.
Speaking of Foster, the freshman from Sachem North is the only player hitting over .300. He has been raking all season–he has 29 hits in 82 at bats (.354), compiled a ridiculous .454 OBP, scored 17 runs and has stolen 11 bases in 18 tries.
Cumulatively, the Pride are hitting .244 with a .325 OBP.
This week they will get a bit of a break, they will take on four-win NYIT and seven-win Towson University. That could certainly be a remedy to awaken the offense.
