It was a wild one in Maine. The Stony Brook Seawolves scored three runs in the top of the 13th, with the go-ahead hit coming on an RBI single by Toby Handley to win 8-5.

Tyler Honahan started, but was not his dominant self. He allowed three runs on five innings, allowing eight hits and two walks. The bullpen did a tremendous job to hold the fort–with Teddy Rotliff throwing five shutout innings to record his first win of the season.

The Sea Wolves fell behind early and trailed 3-0 in the top of the fifth but chipped away on an RBI ground out by Bobby Honeyman. They scored two in the seventh on an error and RBI single by Jeremy Giles to make the 4-3.

They tied it up in the eighth on a squeeze play executed by Johnny Caputo.

That sent the game to extra innings. Both teams failed to scrape across a run in the 10th through 12th inning but the Sea Wolves busted out with three in the 13th. After Handley’s RBI hit, they added two more on a run-scoring double by Jack Parenty and a single by Robert Chavarria, which was hit fifth of the afternoon.

It was a tremendous road victory against a conference opponent for the Sea Wolves. They didn’t commit an error and they smashed 20 hits.

The two teams will play again tomorrow at noon.
