Great news for Long Island baseball fans. After 14 straight years of being held in Appleton, WI, the Division-III College World Series has a new location and it will be right here at SUNY Farmingdale, according a source with knowledge of the subject.
“Farmingdale is right in the center of the baseball universe”, said an NCAA spokesperson. “We figured why not reward their fans with the crown jewel of events”, he added.
It was just six years ago that the Farmingdale State Rams shocked the New York region by winning the tournament with a defeat of heavily favored Cortland and RPI.
Farmingdale’s Tom Heeman was named MVP of the tournament.
The 2015 Rams have gotten off to a slow start, but this might be just the remedy they needed.
Happy April Fools Day, by the way. 🙂
