Division-I:
Stony Brook split a DH with UMass-Lowell. They won the first game 2-1 on a walk-off two-run single by Robert Chavarria which scored Cole Peragine and pinch runner Billy McLean.
Daniel Zamora threw a seven inning complete game. He allowed only one run, struck out nine, walked two and allowed four hits. It was his third win of the season.
The offense was stagnant for six innings, but they came through when it mattered most. Jack Parenty added two more hits–he is off to a tremendous start this season with 29 hits already.
Division-II:
Dowling also split their DH with Wilmington to bring their record to 11-4. In the first game, Tyler Hardison got the Golden Lions on the board with a solo home run in the second inning.
Wilmington tied it up in their half of the inning, Hardison reached on an error which scored Adam Schuster in the fourth. Michael Rizzitello followed with a sac fly to score RJ Going and put increase their lead to 3-1.
Wilmington scored once in the sixth and in the seventh to even up the score against Dominick Danetti.
Andrew Sesto came in and provided 2.2 shutout innings of relief to give the Golden Lions an opportunity to win it–which they did on an RBI single in the ninth by Tyler Piccolo.
Sesto has not allowed a run this season.
In the second game, they led 5-4 in the ninth, but Jon Parisi allowed a walk-off two-run single.
The bright spot was Dennis Buckstein adding 2.1 shutout innings to continue his scoreless streak to begin the season.
LIU Post topped Molloy 9-2. Dan Jagiello threw eight dominant innings–allowing two ER, nine hits, two walks while striking out eight. He is now 2-0 on the season.
Vinny Iacono led the offense with a 4-for-5 performance, driving in three and scoring once. Kenny Daley had two hits, drove in four and scored twice. Rich Maccarone also had two hits.
Ron Bauer followed up his 15-k performance with a three-inning struggle, in which he walked six and allowed four ER.
Anthony Alberghina had three hits for the Lions.
Division-III:
Old Westbury split a DH with Maritime–which ended their winning streak at seven. In the first game, they trailed 4-2 entering the eighth inning when the offense came alive. Nick Yip and Jonathan Pagan hit RBI singles to tie up the game at four.
Robert Crocitto drew a walk with the bases loaded to give the Panthers the lead. They added two insurance runs–including an RBI single by Tommy Zeigen.
Christopher Vitale threw 2.1 shutout innings of relief to record his first victory of the season.
