It’s hard to have a better offensive day than the Old Westbury Panthers did in their double header. They followed up a 10-run output with a 23-run onslaught against Mount St. Vincent’s pitching staff.
They had three separate innings of scoring five or more runs. Sophomore Tommy Zeigen, normally known for his defense, hit two home runs–including a grand slam–while driving in six runs.
In total, the Panthers hit four home runs. Robert Crocitto and Nick Yip also went deep–the former of which was a grand slam.
The Panthers compiled 21 hits–Joey Walsh, Zeigen and Yip all had three.
Tim Igram was the benefactor of the offensive juggernaut. He threw five innings, allowed one ER on three hits, one BB while striking out seven in his third win of the season.
With the victory, the Panthers are now 8-2 on the season and will host Maritime in a double header tomorrow. They will have a busy week, scheduled to play six games.
