Each day it seems a pitcher takes his game to the next level in this match up between inter-county rivals. Today it was Alex Brosnan of Molloy.
“My changeup was easily my best pitch today,” said Brosnan. “Their 3-4 hitters were lefties so we worked off the changeup,” he added.
Molloy evened up the three-game set with the LIU Post Pioneers with a 4-2 victory in the first game of a twin bill on Sunday.
Brosnan fired a complete game with 10 k’s, allowed five hits, one walk and two ER against the Pioneers.
The Lions put up two runs in the first inning on Angelo Navetta‘s RBI single to right field and Michael’s Rahn‘s sac fly.
They added one in the third inning when Rahn struck again, this time on an RBI double to score Navetta.
That was all Brosnan would need to win his first game of the season. He did allow two runs to come in on Kyle Fagan‘s two-run double in the seventh inning. He did not allow that to fluster him and finished the deal with a 133-pitch complete game.
James Long of LIU Post threw seven innings, allowed 4 ER and suffered his third loss of the season.
The two teams will play the rubber game shortly.
