In another low-scoring game for the Pride, David Leiderman provided the go-ahead two RBI single in the top of the 13th to give his team a 3-1 lead that would stand up.
Freshman starter Adam Heidenfelder (MacArthur ’14) threw six shutout innings against Villanova, allowing two hits, five walks while striking out two.

He did not factor in the decision due to the Pride not being able to muster anything on offense. Opposing starter Ryan Doty was very difficult and held the Pride off the board until the eighth inning.

In the top of the eighth, Brad Witkowski (3-for-6, 1 RBI) tripled down the right field line to score Steven Foster and give the Pride a 1-0 lead.

Converted starter Nick Kozlowski set down the side 1-2-3 in the eighth but ran into trouble in the ninth, when he allowed five consecutive batters to reach base. He allowed the tying run to cross the plate on an single. He got out of the inning to send the game into extras.

Neither offense could muster anything across until the top of the 13th when Foster walked and stole second base to get himself into scoring position. After an intentional walk and double steal, Leiderman singled home two runs to put the Pride ahead 3-1.

Chris Weiss came in and set the side down in order to record the save and improve Hofstra to 9-12 on the season.

They will host Fairfield University on Tuesday.
