High School Baseball Season May be Pushed Back

The Long Island high school baseball season may be pushed back, according to one member of the coaches association.

“Pitchers have been able to throw one time. Hitters have only seen batting cages. There’s no comparison from the gym to the field,” he said.

Even if this weekend does not feature lots of snow–there is concern that the inability to practice outside will hinder the pitchers ability to go deep into games.

While some teams have the depth to throw only three innings at a time with a pitcher, most teams have only one or two reliable arms and that is simply asking for an injury.

With all the recent attention to arm injuries, that is not appealing for coaches to deal with.

The league games were scheduled to begin one week from this Monday.
