The Old Westbury Panthers might want to consider making Baseball Heaven their home field. They won their third straight game there–and fourth overall–with an 11-1 victory over John Jay.
They got on the board early and often. Christian Faust drove a two-run double to RF to give the Panthers a 2-0 lead. Before the inning was over, they added four more runs–highlighted by Nick Yip‘s third home run of the young season. He tied Anthony Orsano for the program record with 11 career home runs.
That was all Caleb Olsen would need. He threw five dominant innings, allowing only one run on one hit, walking two while striking out three. He needed only 64 pitches. He was relieved by Tyler Kapela, who added three shutout innings with four strikeouts.
Yip ended with four hits and scored three runs. He had been a dynamic force for the Panthers already.
They improve to 4-2 on the season and will take on Baruch on Saturday.
