Farmingdale Beats Denison 3-2

The trips to Florida have historically not gone too well for the Farmingdale Rams. They’ve had some rough beginnings to their seasons. They generally straighten it out right after they get back to NY.

This season was no different, they began 1-4, but they did defeat Denison 3-2 this afternoon in Port Charlotte, Fla.

They were up 3-0 in the top of the fourth, thanks to an RBI ground off the bat of Nick Osburn, a passed ball on a strikeout while Osburn was batting and an RBI triple by Anthony Alvino.

The bats went silent after that, but luckily the combination of Kevin Cashman and Ryan O’Connor were up to the task of shutting down the opposition. Cashman tossed the first four innings, allowing two ER while striking out three batters. O’Connor came in relief and shut the door with five dominant innings–allowing only two hits and one BB. It was his first win of the season.

The Rams actually only mustered four hits in the game–two of which were from Alvino, but clearly they made them count.

They were defeated 11-4 in the second game of the DH by Manchester. They will close out their Florida trip tomorrow with another DH–against Umass-Boston and Wooster. The latter is 8-1.
