It was an old-fashioned blowout in Baseball Heaven for the Old Westbury Panthers against Lehman. The game was 0-0 with two outs in the bottom of the second inning when the Panthers took advantage of four defensive errors to score 15 runs with two outs.
They hit 3 three-run home runs–two by Nick Yip and one by Michael Cardino.
The wind certainly contributed to the home runs, but so did the Lehman defense who dropped two outfield fly balls, and misplayed two groundballs in the infield that allowed the Panthers to blow the game wide open.
Cardino had three hits and four RBI while Yip had two hits and six RBI.
Nick Dorcean was the winning pitcher for the Panthers. He went six innings, allowed three ER with nine strikeouts for his first win of the season. Chris Vitale threw a clean seventh inning to close it out.
Lehman was held to only three hits.
They will take on New Jersey City tomorrow, looking to improve on their 2-2 record.
