The Sea Wolves were looking to sweep the Binghamton Bearcats on Monday. Instead the Bearcats came out swinging and put the game away in the third inning with a 10-spot.
Stony Brook starter Tim Knesnik did not have hit best stuff. He last 2.2 innings and was tagged for six hits and eight runs (five ER).
Calhoun graduate Jake Thomas led the offense for the Bearcats–he compiled a 3-for-3 afternoon with three runs scored and two RBI. His two-run triple was the icing on the cake in the third inning.
It was an overall lousy day for the Sea Wolves who committed three errors and compiled only seven hits. Freshman Andruw Gazzola was the lone player with two hits.
The bright spot was freshman Matt Buckshaw, who fired two shutout innings in his collegiate debut. He said he “felt good and was glad to be out there.”
The Sea Wolves will drop to 6-9 overall on the season, They will host Iona tomorrow.
