Kozlowski Leads Pride over Tribe

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_p9775XzI4]  After a 21 day layoff, the Hofstra Pride came out sharp against the College of William & Mary with a 6-4 victory against the CAA foe.

Senior ace Nick Kozlowski rebounded from a rocky start to complete six innings, allowing three ER while striking out five.
“It’s awesome,” he said. “It’s amazing coming back and facing actual hitters instead of our guys in the cages like we did for two weeks. It’s good to see difference faces out there,” he added,
Kozlowski walked five and initially looked like it would be an early day, but he settled down and began blowing fastballs by the Tribe.
Bowie Matteson came in relief, and after allowing the first three runners to get on and a run crossing the plate, he was able to bear down and escape unscathed thanks in large part to an attempted bunt attempt on two-strikes that was fouled off. He pitched the next two innings and was untouchable. He finished with five strikeouts and allowed only one hit for his first save of the year.
The offense put up nine hits–three of which were by Eric Ferguson, whose fourth inning triple led to a run when he came around on a wild pitch, which ultimately proved to be the winning run.

Brett Johnson mashed a long home run to right field to put the Pride up 5-3 in the fifth inning.
In the second game of the DH, the Tribe trounced the Pride 11-1 to even the series at 1. The two teams are scheduled to play tomorrow.
