After dropping their first four games of the season, the LIU Post Pioneers showed some resiliency by coming back from a 4-0 deficit to beat Bloomfield College 6-4 in Lantana, Fla.
Relief pitcher Dillon Burke earned his first win of the season by throwing four scoreless innings and striking out four after Bloomfield had scored one run in four consecutive innings.
The offense was aggressive all day–as they compiled 15 hits. Tom Tolan paced the attack with three hits. Vinny Iacono, Rich Maccarone and Anthony Brunetti all compiled multi-hit games as well.
The Pioneers tied the game up in the eighth on a run-scoring double by 2b Matt Bowers. They took the lead when Maccarone smacked a two-run single to break a 4-4 tie.
They outhit Bloomfield 15-6.
The only negative for the Pioneers was that starting pitcher Dan Jagiello walked five batters in his five innings of work and allowed four runs. It took 107 pitches to get through the 15 outs.
Tomorrow will conclude the Pioneers trip with an 11 a.m. matinee against Nyack College. On Sunday they will host LeMoyne College in a double header beginning at 2 P.M.
