Kean stayed unbeaten with a 6-1 win over Old Westbury. The Cougars are now 5-0 on the season. They received a tremendous effort from starting pitcher Emilio Calderon–who threw eight innings, allowing just one run on five hits and no walks.
The Panthers actually got on top 1-0 in the first inning on an RBI single by Eddie Hernandez. The lead was short lived, however, when the Cougars responded with two runs in their half of the first. They scored on an RBI single by Tom McGuckin and a sac fly by Ryan Reitmeyer.
They never looked back, with Calderon settling down and dominating in the meantime.
The Panthers were held to five hits–with Hernandez accounting for two of them.
Nick Schoen was the losing pitcher. He lasted three innings, allowed three earned runs and yielded six hits and two walks.
Old Westbury will return to action Friday against Stevens in Hoboken, NJ.
