NYIT Season Ends in Bitter Fashion

It was not a season to be proud of for the NYIT Bears. They compiled a dismal record of 4-46, including a 10-game losing streak to finish the season.

They went 0-4 in February, 1-13 in March, 3-19 in April and 0-10 in May.

The team batting average was .228, with a .295 slugging percentage and .313 on-base percentage. Their leading hitter was Joe Daru, who hit .301 with 31 stolen bases in 34 attempts.

The pitching staff compiled a 6.84 ERA, and the individual statistics are a bit tough to bear. Aside from Cohen’s 1.23 ERA in 7.1 innings, the next best ERA is 4.50 by Tommy Cardona in 18 innings. Five pitchers had ERA over 11.81.

It was a tough season all around. Here’s to hoping the program is able to turn around and field a competitive team next season.
