Stony Brook swept America-East foe Albany in a three-game series to improve their record to 25-14. They won the first game 6-3 which was aided by a three-run first inning. Brandon McNitt threw 5.2 innings, allowing one ER for his fourth win of the season. Bryan Tatelman allowed two ER in his 2.2 innings of relief but Cameron Stone locked down his seventh save. Kevin Krause had three hits and drove in three for the Sea Wolves.
They won the second game 12-7, despite briefly falling behind 6-5. Robert Chaverria, Cole Peragine and Josh Mason all compiled three hits with Kevin Courtney driving in three runs. Ryley MacEachern struggled through his 3.1 innings, allowing four ER, but Tim Knesnik fired 5.2 while allowing one ER for his third win of the season.
They cruised to the series sweep with a 13-2 win. They got out to an 8-0 lead after four innings. Krause had three more hits and three RBI to lead the offense and Courtney had three hits and scored two runs. Tyler Honahan easily won his sixth game of the season by throwing the seven inning complete game and allowing two ER.
They will travel to Fairfield on Wednesday.
Hofstra lost two of three to the College of William & Mary to fall to .500 again at 17-17. They won the middle game 7-4 behind Robbie Cafiero’s two-run double in the fifth inning to break the 1-1 tie. David D’Errico threw six innings and allowing two ER on seven hits for his second win of the season. Brett Schreiber fired the last three innings for his eighth save of the season.
They will take on Monmouth tomorrow at home.
NYIT lost three of four to Maine to fall to 4-36 on the season. They hung tough the first two games, but lost 1-0 both times. After a blowout loss, they salvaged the fourth game with a 3-2 victory David Plotkin’s 8.2 strong innings. Elias Martinez came on for the final out to record his first save. Mele led the offense with four hits, one run scored and one RBI. Nick Sebastian and Matt Deblase both had two hits.
They will host Army tomorrow.
