The Golden Lions of Dowling are rolling. They just swept Queens College this weekend by the scores of 4-1, 10-4, 10-1 and 14-2.
The first game I covered. You can read about it here. On Saturday they won the double header by a combined scored of 20-5. Tom Bammann won his seventh straight decision to start the year by firing eight innings with 11 strikeouts against zero walks. Andrew Abreu led the offense with three hits, two RBI and one run.
In the nightcap of the double header, Kyle Demeo got the win to improve to 3-0 on the season. He went six innings and didn’t allow an earned run. Dowling got out to an early 5-0 lead and never looked back. Rob Veltre and Tyler Hardison each went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
The final game was over before it started. The Golden Lions scored five in the first, one in the second and five in the fifth to open an 11-0 lead. JJ Bessell was the benefactor, as he threw six innings, allowed one run and struck out seven in his third win of the season. Rob Veltre and Jon Cruz both had three hits in the game.
Dowling has won five in a row and will look to make it six tomorrow against Nyack.
