The Pioneers of CW Post split a weekend series with St. Thomas Aquinas. In their 4-2 win on Saturday, Joey Arena was finally rewarded with a victory after a number of tough-luck outings this season.

Arena went 8.1 innings, allowing two earned runs and now has an ERA of 0.89 through 40 innings. Jake DiCarli recorded his first save of the season. Vinny Iacono went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

After losing the third game, they responded with a 5-4 win on Sunday. The go-ahead run scored in the top of the ninth on a sac fly by Thomas Asbaty (3-for-4, 2 RBI). Dan Jagiello relieved DeCarli who lasted just 0.2 innings in his start. Despite getting the no-decision, Jagiello’s 5.1 shutout innings were crucial.  Brian Tinney fired the last three innings for his second win of the season. Angel Vidal also had three hits in the win.

They are now 12-10 and will take on Mercy tomorrow.
