Stony Brook won two of three games this weekend. They defeated Bryant on Friday 8-5, Connecticut on Saturday 6-3, before losing to Bryant on Sunday 4-3. The Sealwolves improve to 15-11 on the season.
They came back from a 4-0 first inning deficit on Friday. Vanderka struggled out of the game but hung on for seven innings while his offense got back in the game. Bryan Tatelman got his second victory of the season and Cameron Stone recorded his fifth save with a smooth ninth inning. Cole Peragine with 3-for-5 with four RBI and two runs scored.
In the win over UCONN, Tim Knesnik threw five scoreless innings in relief of Ryley MacEachern. Bryan Tatelman recorded the save. Despite four errors, the Sea Wolves were victorious thanks to 10 hits, and two RBI from Kevin Courtney and Jack Parenty.
The Sea Wolves will return to action tomorrow against Iona.
Hofstra lost two of three to James Madison University to fall to 10-11 on the season. In their 5-2 victory, Nick Kozlowski continued his torrid stretch, winning his fifth game of the season by firing seven strong innings with six strikeouts.
Matt Ford and Eric Ferguson both compiled two hits with the latter hitting a three-run home run in the third inning which was the difference.
They will return to action Wednesday against Division-III Farmingdale State.
NYIT got swept by NJIT to fall to 1-22 on the season. In the middle game, they hung tough by lost 3-0 in a pitcher’s duel. DJ Roche of NJIT tossed a seven inning shutout with 13 k’s against four walks.
The Bear’s offense did not get much going, they scored seven runs in the three-game series and have now dropped seven in a row.
They will take on Siena in a double header on Wednesday.
Adelphi had a strong weekend, winning three of four games against Stonehill and Bentley University to improve to 13-11 on the season and 9-4 in conference play.
In their 9-3 victory against Stonehill, Chris Lemorocco won his first collegiate game by firing six innings, allowing only one run with six strikeouts. Rich Mejia went 3-for-5 with four RBI and two runs scored. The Panthers broke the game open in the third opening by opening up a 7-1 lead.
The next day, they were down 5-0 against Bentley after two innings and things were looking bleak. The offense sprung to life in the sixth inning thanks to extra-base run scoring hits by Mejia and Nick Zito.
The comeback would not have been possible if not for seven shutout innings of relief by senior Matt Abramowitz who struck out 10 batters. John Donnelly recorded the victory with two shutout innings, and was aided by Nick Zito’s two-run double in the 12th inning.
The Panthers also came back from a 5-1 deficit in the sixth inning during the second game with a five-run frame. Junior Mike Cranston came on to fire three shutout innings to record his first win of the season. John Donnelly saved his third game. Rich Mejia had three more hits raising his season average to .386.
They will take on So. Co on Wednesday.
Molloy and CW Post played a three game series in which the Pioneers won two of three. The first game was 7-4 in favor of the CW Post, thanks to a five-run ninth inning off Matt Castaneda. The big blow was an RBI triple by Angel Vidal. Christia Stancavage recorded the win.
The Lions took the middle game 9-2. Shea Spitzbarth tossed seven innings, allowing only two runs for the victory. The Lions broke the game open with a six-run fifth. Ron Bauer and Deilyn Guzman had two hits and an RBI each.
The third game was 5-2 in favor of the Pioneers. Mike Eckerle continued his tremendous season with seven shutout innings, running his record to 5-0. Thomas Asbaty had three hits and three RBI.
Molloy will play Wednesday against Bloomfield while CW Post will take on Concordia tomorrow.
Dowling split with Dominican College this weekend. In their 3-1 win, Kyle DeMeo recorded his second victory of the season with four innings. RJ Going, Rob Veltre and JC Brandmeier each drove in a run.
The Golden Lions are now 17-8 and will take on Felician College tomorrow.
Farmingdale was swept by Mount St. Mary’s for the first time since 2008. They lost 6-5 and 3-1 to fall to 12-7 on the season. Mike Dolce suffered the loss in game one, and Alex Weingarten in the second game. Five errors stung the Rams in game one, but lack of clutch hitting cost them in the second game. The Rams will take on Hofstra on Wednesday.
Old Westbury had a peculiar weekend, first sweeping Mount St. Vincent then being swept by NYU-Poly. they are now 9-15. In their first win, Tim Ingram threw seven shutout innings, allowed only three hits while striking out nine. Jake Coners had two hits and two RBI, as did Tommy Ziegen.
In the second win, Arismendy Nunez threw six strong innings for his third victory of the season. Ziegen and Mike Cardino both recorded two RBI.
They will take on Rutgers tomorrow.
St. Joseph’s split with Maritime and Purchase. They were no-hit by Trevor Cannella in their loss to Maritime. In the victory, Glenn Patriss fired seven strong innings for his second victory of the season. Dan Diblasi had three hits and two RBI.
In their 5-3 victory of Purchase, Frank Trionfo threw 1.2 innings in relief to record the win. The Golden Eagles offense was led by Anthony Bonilla who had two hits and an RBI.
They will take on Ramapo on Wednesday.
