NYIT lost to LIU Brooklyn yesterday by the score of 12-10. They were in an early 6-0 deficit after one and 8-1 after five, but clawed back to make it a close game.
Joe Daru had four hits and Nick Sebastian had three RBI. Matt Diaz suffered the loss for the Bears, who fall to 1-17 on the season. They will take on Farleigh Dickinson in a four-game series this weekend.
Adelphi beat NE-10 rival Southern Connecticut by the score of 4-3. Captain Kevin Hutzel had two hits and three RBI including a triple which ultimately was the winning run.
Mike Ceperano tossed 5.1 strong innings, but John Bivas was the winning pitcher. John Donnelly recorded the save with 1.1 hitless innings.
The Panthers will play a double header on Sunday against AIC at home, in hopes to return to .500.
St. Joseph’s lost 3-1 to Kean, who improves to 14-3. The Golden Eagles have shown the ability to play with them in recent years.
Glenn Patriss took the tough-luck loss, firing 7.2 strong innings, allowing three earned. Ultimately, the offense scuffled and was able to muster only four hits with the lone run coming on an RBI single by Anthony Andreani.
They will play Old Westbury on Saturday at home.
In high school, Commack defeated Pat Med 6-2, Vinny Negri tossed a complete game, allowing three hits.
Sachem East shutout Longwood 6-0. Ryan Cole threw 6.1 innings with three K’s. Tom Bashen went 4-for-5 with four RBI.
Ward Melville shutout Floyd 3-0, last year’s playoff hero Chris Cepeda tossed a four-hitter.
Connetquot improved to 2-0 with a strong outing by Rob Mancuso for his first varsity win. The T-Birds now have shutouts in back-to-back games.
Lindenhurst shutout Bay Shore 5-0, Zach Wilkens threw an economical two-hitter.
Smithtown East shutout Centereach 9-0 behind a strong outing by Ryan Ingarozza for his first varsity win.
