Adelphi Tops CW Post

The Adelphi Panthers have woken up. They are back on track after defeating Nassau County foe CW Post yesterday by the score of 4-0.

The Panthers outplayed them so thoroughly that the held the Pioneers to two hits while they committed four errors.

Mike Ceparano recorded his first collegiate victory, and he was dominant. The lefty tossed six spotless innings, allowing only two hits, walking one and striking out six. He gave way to Mike Cranston to fired a scoreless seventh inning. Nick Batas, John Bivas and John Donnelly finished the shutout.

Junior Nick Zito led the Panthers with three hits. Cliff Brantley added two hits and an RBI (and now batting .487). Rich Mejia added one hit and two RBI.

Joey Arena took the loss for the Pioneers, who drop to 4-3. Arena was victimized by spotty defense, he tossed five innings while not allowing an earned run.
