There was plenty of action yesterday between the teams on their Florida trip and those on Long Island still.
Stony Brook defeated Iona 4-0 behind a combined shutout of three pitchers; Tyler Honahan, Bryan Tatelman and Connor Doyle. Honahan went the first six innings, allowing only three hits while fanning seven. Together, the pitchers only allowed three hits on the day.
The offense was led by Casey Baker, who had two hits, drove in one run and scored one run. The Sea Wolves improve to 4-6 on the young season.
They will travel to Riverside, CA this weekend.
Molloy beat Bloomfield College 11-4 to stop their three-game skid. Nick Gonchar had the big blow, a two-run double in the fifth inning. He drove in three on the day. Carlos Guzman recorded three hits, drove in three and scored one.
Alex Miden went five shutout innings for the victory. Molloy improves to 3-5 on the season. That concludes their Florida trip. They will travel to North Carolina to take on Merrimack this weekend.
Adelphi dropped their fourth straight, an 8-1 defeat at the hands of Lynn University. Freshman Mike Ceperano took the loss, allowing two earned runs in 3.1 innings. Cliff Brantley was the bright spot for the Panthers, knocking three more hits and now has nine in just 19 at bats.
The Panthers will look to salvage their trip against Barry University tonight.
CW Post lost a heartbreaker, 1-0 at the hands of Assumption. Joey Arena was the tough luck loser, firing eight innings, allowing only hit and one run (unearned), which came on a passed ball in the third inning. CW Post had three hits, but could not muster a run. They have dropped two games in a row.
