The Old Westbury Panthers have gotten off to an uncharacteristic 0-8 start. They lost both games this weekend against Southern Maine and Western New England at Baseball Heaven.
They got out to a 2-0 lead on Saturday on a two-run HR by Kevin Licul. They were not able to hold the fort, however, with So. Maine scoring eight unanswered runs. Chris Vitale suffered the loss, allowing six earned runs in 3.1 innings.
They suffered the tough 3-1 loss on Sunday. After Carlos Balmacada stole home in the third inning, the score remained 2-1 entering the eighth inning but they were unable to tie it up. Tim Ingram was the tough luck loser in the game.
The Panthers will face Yashiva University this weekend as they open up their Skyline Conference schedule.
