Molloy Suffers Rough Weekend In Boca Raton

Adelphi was not the only Long Island team to suffer in Florida this weekend. The Molloy Lions, an old ECC foe, also dropped three this weekend to Wilmington, Lynn and Southern Connecticut.

The loss to Wilmington was a 10-4 final. Senior Max Schonfeld suffered an uncharacteristic rough day, allowing 10 runs (three earned) on 10 hits in four innings. He was sabotaged by three errors by his defense. The Lions batted around in the ninth innings and scored all four of their runs, but it was too little, too late.

They were shutout 4-0 by Lynn. Starter Alex Brosnan tossed five solid innings, allowing two earned runs, but the offense could not get anything going against Connelly, who fired the complete game shutout, scattering seven hits.

They were also shutout 2-0 in the third game, despite out-hitting So. Co 7-4. Starter Shea Spitzbarth suffered the tough luck loss, firing six strong innings and striking out nine. Jordan Hamle threw eight shutout innings for the Owls.

The Lions will be back in action today looking to right the ship against Bloomfield College.
