CW Post Wins Two of Three

The CW Post season has gotten off to a nice 2-1 start in Lantana, Fla. They annihilated Post University 21-3 on Friday night, narrowly edged Assumption 7-6, before losing 3-1 against Wilmington University.

They scored an unbelievable 17 runs in the fifth inning. Even if you subtract that inning, however, they still win the game. Rick Alessi drove in five runs, scored four and recorded three hits. Casey McKay and Joey Arena also drove in four runs. Mike Eckerle recorded the win.

In their 7-6 victory they gradually erased a 6-2 deficit. The go-ahead hit came on a two-run single in the ninth inning by Kyle Fagan. Starter Chris Anderson went 4.1 innings, allowing five earned but avoided the loss with the comeback. Relief pitcher Brian Tinney went 4.2 innings scoreless and recorded the victory.

They lost the final game, starter James Long tossed 7.1 strong innings but did not factor in the decision. Post recorded only five hits in the game with Vinny Iacono accounting for two of those.

They will take on Assumpion College today.
