Stony Brook Suffers Disappointing Weekend

Just two years ago, Stony Brook marched down to the Coral Gables Regionals to put a shocking beat down on some of the most powerful baseball programs in the country. This year, however, they have gotten off to an uncharacteristic dismal start for the second straight year.

Head Coach Matt Senk commended the performance of Florida International, but said it’s “important to have good practices this week.”

Florida International swept the series by a combined score of 28-4 to move their undefeated streak to eight games to begin the season. The Sea Wolves are 0-3 and return to New York with a bit of a bruised ego. It is not quite last year’s excruciating 0-9 start which directly followed not just the best season in school history but the winningest season in the country.
The team will look to refocus as they head to North Carolina this weekend in the Wake Forest tournament. It will not be a cakewalk against three more strong teams, including Saint Louis.
On the bright side the offense did manage 10 base runners in the final game, but were not able to manufacture the big hits when they needed.
The Sea Wolves will need to turn it around if they are to regain their top spot in the America East conference.
