Sunday Recap

Farmingdale State:The Rams swept NYU-Poly in a doubleheader on Sunday, 3-0 and 16-0. The pitching led the way mainly with a combined no-hitter from Kitt Cameron, Kevin Martinez and Dominick Morelli in the second game. The first game was a combined shutout by six different pitchers. The Rams are on a 10-game winning streak as they improve to 19-9 and 11-1 in conference play.

Old Westbury: The Panthers split a conference doubleheader Sunday against Maritime, winning 4-0 and losing 7-1. Arismendy Nunez tossed a complete game shutout, allowing three hits while fanning 11. The second game was a different story, as Tim Walsh could not keep Old Westbury in the game allowing four runs in just three innings. The Panthers didn’t score a run until the sixth inning, but it was too late already being down 6-0. Old Westbury is now 13-13-1, with a 7-3 conference record.
St. Joseph’s College: The Golden Eagles dominated Yeshiva in a conference doubleheader, shutting them out both games, 10-0 and 15-0. Robert Hyde and Steven Szobesky both pitched complete game shutouts. The much needed sweep allowed St. Josesph’s to jump over the .500 mark in conference play, now sitting at 7-5.
Hofstra:The Pride fell to 9-0 deficit after the first inning to Old Dominion on Sunday. John Tiedemann and David Jesch allowed a combined nine runs before getting out of the inning. It wound up ending 14-5, so that first run shellacking made the difference between a blowout and a close game.
The Pride now sit at 17-20 and 6-9 in CAA play.
Molloy: The Lions swept C.W. Post in a doubleheader at St. Joseph College. The first game was highlighted by a 2-0 shutout, as four pitchers silenced the Pioneers bats. Anthony Eichhorn improves to 4-3, going 6.2 innings, although allowing seven walks, allowed none to score. The second game was a duplicate of the first, as Shea Spitzbarth pitched a complete game shutout in a 2-0 victory. The bats where silent for both teams, but Molloy was able to scuffle a couple runs in both games which was the difference maker.
Adelphi: The Panthers faced Assumption College on Sunday, with a 6-4 victory. Anthony Zarrella lead the offense, going 2-3 with two RBI and a run scored and Donato Signore only had one hit in four plate appearances, but drove in two runs. John Bivas and Dillon McNamara held Assumption scoreless in the final three innings to complete the victory.
StonyBrook:The Seawolves took on Hartford Sunday at Joe Nathan Field. StonyBrook held a 3-0 lead until the seventh, when Hartford scored four runs to take the lead, only to give the lead up in the bottom half, tying the game at 4-4. With two outs in the bottom of the 11thand runners on first and second, Josh Mason ripped a pitch down the left field line, scoring Anthony Italiano from second for the 5-4 victory.
