Farmingdale: The Rams won two huge games over rival St. Joseph’s. In Game One, Mike Dolce continued his incredible season with eight strong innings, yielding only one run to lower his ERA to 0.72. First baseman Ron Remi drove in two runs and Dalton McCarthy drove in the other, which was more than enough for Dolce. Alex Weingarten shut the door in the ninth for his second save of the year as the Rams won 3-1.
In Game Two, Anthony Eilers tossed five mostly solid innings, allowing two earned runs. The offense was led by David Zilnicki who went 3-5 with four RBI as well as Eric Wiener who was 4-4. In total the Rams banged out 15 hits, and held the Golden Eagles to just four. It was the eighth win in a row for the Rams.
Adelphi: The Panthers split a double header with Assumption. They lost the first game 10-3 in a very sloppy games. They made five errors which attributed to most of the damage. It was a 4-3 Panthers lead in the fourth thanks to an RB hit by the red-hot Kevin Hutzel, but they squandered the lead. Chris Pabisch took the loss despite allowing only one ER in five innings to fall to 3-3 on the season.
The second game was more of a boxing match as the Panthers outlasted Assumption 13-12. Assumption had leads of 4-0 and 5-1 but the Panthers kept chipping away. They finally took a 10-9 lead in the sixth inning which ultimately turned into more back-and-forth scoring. The Panthers had 16 hits, including multiple hit games from Vincent Sharkey (who scored four runs), Anthony Zarrella (two RBI), Donato Signore (four RBI), Brandon Stahl and John Campbell. The winning pitcher was James McCormick who won his first game of the season.
Stony Brook: The Seawolves split a double header with Hartford. In game one, they were defeated 4-3, which spoiled another quality start from Frankie Vanderka who tossed six innings allowing three ER. Jack Parenty and Cole Peragine both had multiple hits. The go-ahead run was scored in the eighth on an RBI single by DelDebbio.
Game Two went to the Seawolves thanks to a go-ahead RBI double in the bottom of the eighth by Kevin Courtney which scored Anthony Italiano to make the score 3-2. Brandon McNitt went the distance, allowing two runs and fanning eighth. It was his second victory of the season.
Hofstra: The Pride swept Old Dominion in a double header by the scores of 8-4 and 5-1. In Game One Matt Reistetter went 3-4 with three RBI and Austin Nyman added two hits and two RBI. David D’Errico went six innings, allowing three runs for the win. Bryan Verbitsky closed out the final three innings.
In Game Two, four Hofstra pitchers combined on the one-run effort. Nick Kozlowski tossed two innings for the win to improve to 2-0. Kenny Jackson drove in two RBI, and Robbie Cafiero, Joe Perez and Brent Hall all added one.
Dowling: The Golden Lions swept Bloomfield by the scores of 11-0 and 1-0. Game One was all Tyler Bodamo as he compiled the incredible yet tantalizing line of seven innings, zero runs, zero walks, one hit and nine strikeouts. JC Brandmaier and Adam Schuster both drove in three runs for Dowling.
In Game Two, Adam Brown was nearly just as good. He tossed the seven inning complete game shutout as well. He allowed three hits and three walks but also struck out nine. The score remained scoreless until the seventh when John Cruz hit a walk-off RBI single to drive in Andrew Abreu to end the game and drop Bloomfield to 4-21 on the season.
