The Golden Lions of Dowling split a double header yesterday with the University of Bridgeport at the beautiful facilities of the Ballpark at Harbor Yard.
Game one went to Bridgeport by the score of 6-2. They got out to a quick 4-0 lead in the first and tacked on runs on the second and third innings. From that point on, Dowling was forced to play catch up. They scored two in the sixth on RBI singles form JC Brandmaier and Matt Benedetto. Andrew Abreu had two hits and a run scored.
Adam Brown took the loss as he drops to 2-3 on the season.
Game two was scoreless into the fifth, until Dowling scored three thanks to RBI singles by Mike Rizz and Daniel Massi.
Tom Bammann tossed the first 5.2 innings, limiting Bridgeport to one earned run. He earned the win to improve to 3-1 on the season. He gave way to Robert Rose who closed out the final 1.1 innings to record his first save of the year.
Dowling improves to 10-14-1 and will play Concordia on Thursday.
