Farmingdale: The Rams cruised by Maritime both games of the DH by scores of 16-9 and 10-6. In the first game, Anthony Eilers relieved Chris Dragone, who lasted just 0.2 innings, and tossed the next 4.1 innings. The Rams bats came to play, with David Zilnicki, Danny Paccione and Anthony Alvino all going yard during a 13-hit performance. Paccione, Ron Remi and Rom Rydzewski all had three hits in the game. Anthony Alvino went 3-3 with three runs scored and three RBI.
In the second game, Matt DeRamo started but was taken out after one inning despite only allowing one run. He was relieved by Cameron Kitt who tossed the next four innings, allowing two ER and received the victory. The offense was led by Paccione who hit another home run which was part of a 3-4 performance with four RBI. The Rams improve to 14-9 on the season.
Stony Brook: The Seawolves were swept by Albany this weekend with the latest loss by the score of 4-3. Freshman Daniel Zamura, fresh off being named Player of the Week, was strapped with the loss as he tossed seven innings allowing four earned runs which all came in the fourth inning. It was a strange game in that the winning pitcher for Albany lasted 3.2 innings while the starter only 3.1 innings. Cole Peragine had three hits, one RBI and one run scored for Stony Brook who drops to 9-21.
Dowling: The Golden Lions lost to Bridgeport by the score of 10-5 with JJ Bessell suffering the loss, as he moves to 2-2 on the year.
Joe Candela had a monster game at the plate, going 4-4 with three doubles, one RBI and one run scored. Mike Nowak was the winner for Bridgeport, he threw seven innings without allowing an earned run. Dowling drops to 9-13-1 on the season.
Molloy: They were defeated 8-5 by St. Thomas Aquinas. Pete Vath suffered his first loss of the season as he allowed one walk and a hit without retiring a batter in the seventh in relief. Shea Spitzbarth got the start, and he was uneven in his six inning of work. He did strike out seven batters, but walked five and allowed four runs. Greg Walsh had three hits and an RBI for Molloy whose record is now 13-19.
Hofstra: The Pride lost 9-1 to Northeastern as they fall to 14-18 on the season. Kevin Ferguson tossed 8.2 innings while allowing only one run. Hofstra starter Chris Harkey last only 2.1 innings in his first start of the season. Hofstra only had five hits but two of them came off the bat of Kevin Brantley.
St. Josephs: The Golden Eagles lost both games of the DH to Purchase by scores of 8-3 and 2-1. In the first game, the score was tied 3-3 in the eighth but Purchase broke the game open with a five-run inning thanks to three separate RBI hits. The winning pitcher was Lulow, who tossed the complete game and moves to 3-0 on the season.
Game Two was a pitchers duel between Matt Paz and Steven Szobesky which was won on an eighth inning RBI single by Morris. Paz tossed the complete game, allowing only five base runners. Thomas Rubenstein had two hits for the Golden Eagles. St. Joseph’s record drops to 9-13 on the season.
