Old Westbury took down Yeshiva in a double header at Jackie Robinson Athletic Complex yesterday. The Panthers dominated both games, winning 30-1 and 16-0.
In the first game, the Panthers scored a run in every inning with eight batters having multi-hit games. One of those which came from Alexander Abanavas, who lead the team in RBI’s, with five. James Roubal stayed unbeaten, tossing five innings and allowing only two hits. Of the 15 batter Roubal got out, 14 where by strikeout. You can’t expect to be competitive allowing 22 hits and committing 12 errors, like Yeshiva did. This game was called in the seventh due to run rule.
In the second game, the woes continued for Yeshiva, being shutout by the Panthers 16-0. Six more Panthers had multi-hit games again, lead by Brian Walsh going 3-4 with two RBI and four runs scored. Tyler Kapela lead Old Westbury to the win, going five strong innings with five strikeouts and giving up just one hit. Not much to say on Yeshiva’s side, as this game was unbalanced as the first, but did improve committing five errors to the 12 from game one.
Old Westbury jumps to a 10-11 record and 5-1 in Skyline , while Yeshiva drops to 2-10(1-3). The Panthers take on St. Joseph’s College today in a battle for top positions in the conference. Yeshiva will play Baruch in a double header Sunday.
