California native Daniel Zamora of Stony Brook has been named America East Rookie of the Week for his performance this past weekend. In Saturday’s victory of UMBC the freshman tossed 6.1 innings, allowing five hits, two walks, one run while striking out nine.
The Seawolves won both games of the double header with Frankie Vanderka winning the first game.
For the season, Zamora had gotten off to a difficult start losing his first five decisions but he may have turned his season around with that victory.
Stony Brook is currently 4-5 in the America East and 9-17 overall. They take on Marist tomorrow.
