Old Westbury Drops a Pair to Oneonta

The Old Westbury Panthers dropped both games of the double header to Oneonta State by scores of 4-2 and 6-3. Their record falls to 7-11 on the season.

In Game 1 Frank DiMaria lost his no-hit bid in the seventh inning, but ended up allowing three runs as Oneonta came from behind to turn a 2-0 deficit into a 4-2 lead. The Panthers totaled only two hits in the game which were by Steve Mare and Brandon Stein.

DiMaria suffered the hard luck loss to fall to 1-1 on the season.

The second game was a bit more wild with a number of lead changes. The Panthers got out to a quick 1-0 lead in the first on a wild pitch which scored Paul Valerio. Oneonta scored three times in the fourth to take a 3-1 lead. Old Westbury tied it up in the sixth on an RBI single by Romeo.

Oneonta scored three times in the ninth to take the lead with the decisive run coming on an RBI double by Peluso. Arismendy Nunez took the loss as he tossed 3.2 innings and allowing the three runs.
